Real Kids Shades Review + Giveaway
***CLOSED - CONGRATS MONICA!!***
Did you know that 82% of parents encourage children to wear sunscreen, but only 32% do the same for sunglasses?
I wear sunglasses all the time. My eyes are sensitive to light and I wear them when I'm outside all year round. So I'm a big advocate for my kids wearing sunglasses too. But I wanted to make sure that they were good, protective glasses, not just cutesy toy versions of adult glasses. But in order to make sure that my kids will wear them they have to be durable, come in cool colors and, above all, comfortable. The best solution I've found is Real Kids Shades.
So why are Real Kid Shades so amazing?
Sun Protection: According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children up to the age of 10 are at an increased risk for permanent retinal damage from sunlight. Exposure to UVA and UVB rays can lead to eye disease and eventually adult blindness. Too much sunlight causes sunburn of the eyes and with prolonged exposure during childhood can lead to cataracts in adults. All Real Kids Shades provide 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays. Plus, the wrap-around frames minimize exposure to peripheral light.
Comfort: They're comfortable (or at least that's what my toddler says). Many have adjustable neoprene bands to help keep them on kids' heads - where they belong.
Durability: RKS lenses and frames are made from shatterproof polycarbonate. They’ll be outgrown before they’re broken.
Safety: Always lead-free, with no bisphenol-A and no phthalates.
I received an amazing 4 pairs of glasses from Real Kids Shades. For my son we got 1 pair of Xtreme Sports Shades in black and blue that are super cool with a an adjustable neoprene and mesh band and 1 pair of Xtreme Elements Shades in a super cool silver flame design. Aiden loved both of them and actually keeps them on when we go outside. Once in a while he'll pull them off, but thankfully most of the time they stay safely on his pretty blue peepers. And for my daughter we got 1 pair of Infant Shades with adorable little flowers and 1 pair of Xtreme Elements shades in pink. Not only does Chloe look amazing cute in these glasses, but she doesn't fuss with them. I actually think she may forget that she has them on. Win Win.
Another thing that I love about Real Kids Shades is their effort to help educate the public about kids' eye safety. They have partnered with Prevent Blindness America, the nation's oldest eye health and safety organization, to help ensure 5 million kids have healthy eyes and a great start to healthy futures. To support this effort, Real Kids Shades has designed a Star Pupils-branded pair of 100 percent ultraviolet (UV-A and UV-B) protective sunglasses with a percentage of proceeds from sales donated directly to the children's vision education initiative. Amazing, right?
I highly recommend that you head over to Real Kids Shades and pick out some great glasses for your kids. They have several styles and tons of color choices. There is definitely something to fit every kid's personality.
